Meet Dr. Wu: Meticulous Care, Refined Surgical Expertise

Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, and raised in the Midwest, Dr. Wu graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign before earning his Doctor of Medicine from Indiana University School of Medicine on a merit scholarship. During medical school, he distinguished himself academically and clinically, earning election to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and receiving the Dr. and Mrs. John N. Pittman Surgery Award from the Department of Surgery in recognition of his excellence and commitment to the surgical profession.

Recruited back to Indiana University, Dr. Wu completed his integrated Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency. He received extensive experience across the full spectrum of plastic and reconstructive surgery including aesthetic surgery of the face and body, microsurgery, hand surgery, craniofacial surgery, and burn, oncologic and traumatic reconstruction. Training in a rigorous, high-volume environment allowed him to develop refined technical skills while cultivating a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to patient care.

During residency, Dr. Wu participated in a month-long global health elective through the AMPATH program in Eldoret, Kenya, where he cared for patients with cleft deformities, burn injuries and facial trauma. The experience reinforced his commitment to compassionate care and unwavering patient advocacy.

Dr. Wu has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, with research published in the Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery, Journal of Hand Surgery, Journal of Brachial Plexus and Peripheral Nerve Injury, and FASEB Journal. He has also contributed book chapters to surgical textbooks on facial paralysis and pediatric hand surgery.
